COMPETING
HART SC CLUB COMPETITIONS
Hart Swimming Club runs a number of in-house Club Competitions throughout the year at Hart Leisure Centre. All swimmers from all squads are encouraged to enter: swimmers will gain experience of competing in a safe, friendly and fun environment and be awarded swim times to facilitate entry into Open Meets.
OPEN MEETS
Open Meets are swimming competitions run by other swimming clubs. As Open Meets are only aimed at swimmers who are 9+ years, younger swimmers should make use of the in-house Club Competitions to gain times. Open Meets are licensed at levels 1-3; the higher the level the faster the swimmers it is aimed at. Hart SC swimmers will be encouraged to enter a variety of Open Meets targeted by the Head Coach throughout the year.
GALAS
At a Gala, clubs compete against each other with a team of swimmers. Swimmers are selected by the Head Coach and these events are great for building club spirit and a chance for swimmers to swim as part of a team rather than just for themselves. Currently, we compete in the National Arena League (we were recently promoted to Division 1), The National Arena Junior League and the Hants and South Coast Leagues of which we usually take part in the Minor and Premier Leagues.
COUNTIES, REGIONALS AND NATIONALS
Most swimmers aim at getting fast enough times to qualify for entry to Hampshire County Champs during January/February of each year and following on from that the South East Regionals in May of each year. England has National Championships twice a year during Summer and Winter, and competition and times for these events are extremely fierce.
