Dear Hart Swimming Club Members,
With much sadness, we are announcing that all club activities will cease with immediate effect (today Wednesday 18th March 2020) until further notice.
This follows the latest guidance issued by the Government and our governing body, Swim England.
A key extract of the guidance states:
“Having further reviewed the guidance, it is Swim England’s interpretation that club activity falls into the ‘public gathering’ category and therefore it is strongly advising clubs to consider cancelling or postponing activity – including events – until the end of May.”
Although there are still pool providers that continue to operate and many schools continue to be open, the list of closures is rapidly increasing. Other clubs are also considering their position and many have also taken similar steps.
We believe that the health of our swimmers, their families and our coaches are of the utmost importance and our highest priority.
Darren, our Head Coach, has been working with his team to consider any guidance and support that he can provide over the coming weeks in order for everyone to stay as fit and healthy as possible. He will communicate this guidance to you directly, through Swim Manager.
Over the past few weeks we have closely followed the advice that was issued by Public Health England, the NHS, Swim England and our pool operator Everyone Active. The Hart SC Committee will continue to review the situation on a regular basis so that we may react to any changes in external conditions and to any subsequent advice or guidance that is provided to us.
We understand that these times are very difficult for everyone; families, swimmers and coaches and as a club we will do all that we can.
The very viability of our club is at stake.
It is at times like this when Hart Swimming Club, as a community, need to pull together and support each other and those that depend upon us. We have to ensure that we secure the future of Hart SC, retain our coaching team and embody the ‘family spirit’ that has been the trademark of our club for so many years.
We will very shortly issue a further communication with our immediate plan for the future sustainability of Hart Swimming Club and the steps that we wish you to support.
In the meantime, please bear with us as we move through these unprecedented times.
Please look after yourselves and stay safe.
Hart SC Committee
